| because there is a local guy here that was rebuilding one a couple years ago and had a similar problem. His explanation is that he mixed up the two cams. I have had cams off several of these engine but always had them marked and didn't pay attention to if they had anything on them to keep them from being on the wrong side so I really didn't know if the guy was telling the truth. At any rate it is very odd given all the marks are still lining up. If it would have slipped at least one cam should be off. I was wondering if an actual cam had slipped a tooth or two. As far as one being off and not the other thats a good point. Hope you get it fixed soon or at least figure out whats going on. Keep us updated.
